Gold Beach Founding Document Series: Exploring an Opportunity for Changes

Post by: Founding Documents Project Working Group (Roger Deaver, Barb Gayle Preiss, Ray Preiss, Janet Suppes)

Residents of Gold Beach on Vashon Island benefit from not only the unique setting of a sea-coast community with stunning views of Mount Rainier, sandy beaches, and surrounding forested reserves, but also a robust community organization formed for the purpose of maintaining this coveted setting.

Formed in the mid nineteen sixties, the Gold Beach Community Club was formally authorized by the Secretary of State, State of Washington with Articles of Incorporation to establish an organization to protect and enhance the unique viewscape features as well as building a clubhouse, swimming pool, beach trails, and other support assets to serve the residents.

The Gold Beach Community Club organization functions with a set of Bylaws to govern the operational aspects of the club.  Covenants were written to serve as rules for the residents to be guided by in their occupancy and associated improvements to individual properties within the community.

As authorized and mandated in the Articles of Incorporation and the Bylaws, these establishing documents are to be reviewed every ten years to assure that they are meeting the needs of the community or might need to be amended to meet current needs.

Working Group Focus

A working group has been established consisting of one member of the Board of Trustees and three resident members of the Gold Beach Community.  This working group is proposing to generate and have published in the MIDAS a series of three articles disclosing the progress of their review of these founding documents and their recommendations for changes, if any.

It is through this series of articles that the working group wishes to encourage the involvement of our community residents in providing input to the Working Group.  When their work is completed, a set of recommendations will be submitted to the Gold Beach Board of Trustees for any suggested actions that may be deemed necessary or appropriate.

We encourage all residents to follow the progress through the series of articles regarding this effort. If you’d like to get involved, email the Gold Beach board: info@goldbeachcommunityclub.org.
